Main Responsibilities of the Development Standing Committee
1. Core Responsibilities
Planning and Development: Lead the preparation of annual and five-year plans for the socio-economic development of the panchayat.
Production Sectors: Supervision and development of agriculture, soil conservation, animal husbandry, dairy development, small-scale industries, and fisheries.
Land Use: Regulate matters related to land use within the panchayat limits and formulate schemes to make fallow land cultivable.
Cooperation: Coordinate activities related to the cooperative sector.
2. Maintenance and Regulation
Construction and maintenance of markets, public toilets, and slaughterhouses under the panchayat.
Supervision of panchayat farms and seed production centres.
Collect and maintain statistics on agriculture and allied sectors.
3. Other Important Powers
Determine the priority order for projects related to matters under the committee's responsibility.
Evaluate the progress of plan implementation in these sectors and submit necessary recommendations to the panchayat committee.
Prepare the income and expenditure estimates to be included in the annual budget in connection with development matters.
