Key Responsibilities of the Welfare Affairs Standing Committee
The Welfare Affairs Standing Committee oversees various activities aimed at ensuring social welfare in the panchayat and the development of disadvantaged sections.
Key responsibilities:
Lead activities related to the welfare and development of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and other backward sections.
Formulate welfare schemes for women, children, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities and oversee their implementation.
Evaluate the implementation of social security pension schemes and beneficiary services.
Coordinate and oversee activities related to poverty alleviation schemes.
Promote programmes for women's empowerment and gender equality.
Evaluate the functioning of child welfare, child protection, and nutrition programmes.
Support schemes related to the rehabilitation and welfare of persons with disabilities.
Recommend measures to ensure social justice and equality.
Examine matters related to the selection of beneficiaries and implementation of welfare schemes.
Oversee institutions and activities related to social welfare.
Perform other welfare-related responsibilities assigned by the Panchayat Committee
